Craig's second career has been as both screenwriter and director. When faced with fewer acting roles (and the loss of employment in local broadcasting) he was forced to begin again. With the help of his wife, Vaunie, he raised a little money and did his first film, "Little Heroes."

Over the years, he has directed many well known stars including: Mickey Rooney, Bo Hopkins, Brian Keith, Wilford Brimley, John Denver, Ernest Borgnine, Stacey Keach, Rue McClanahan, Scott Baio, Kate Jackson, Zac Efron, Josh Hutcherson and Miranda Cosgrove.
